Watercolour love
How enchanting is watercolour? The slight hint of colour, building up and overlapping with more colour to create dreamy, translucent layers of subtle softness. Romantic and a little bit whimsical, watercolour is perfect for any pretty pastel wedding.

The Non-book Guest Book
The traditional guest book, with it's gold foil edges and neat little lines, will always have a place at weddings, but sadly not really a place in our homes. Banished to a bookcase or in a dark drawer they rarely see the light of day, after the day itself is over. Which is why I love the clever alternatives that put the well wishes of your wedding guests on permanent display. Whether framed upon a wall, on a custom made love seat or on a quilt destined to become a family heirloom, these are constant reminders of your special day and the special people that helped celebrate it.

Navy and Fuchsia
Classic Navy Blue and bright Fuchsia are the hottest couple in town right now. Sophistication meets sassiness in this show-stopping combination that will have your wedding stand out from the crowd.

The prettiest dresses in the world
I thought my first Weddinsday post after my (absolutely amazing!!) trip should be something pretty special. And special is definitely a word I would use to describe these spectacular gowns. Along with exquisite, captivating, stunning and divine. If you are not familiar with the graceful designs of Anna Campbell, you really should be. Each dress, made by hand in Melbourne, is a vintage inspired love affair of dreamy silk, delicate lace and intricate beading. Basically the type of dress that makes me want to get married all over again.

Minimoons
Today's Weddinsday will be the last for a while as I am about to take off to South America for our delayed honeymoon! Trekking through Machu Picchu isn't exactly the romantic beachside escape most newlyweds go for, but we already had a mini version of that in Noosa right after the wedding, which brings us to todays post of 'Minimoons'.
Weddings are hard work. So much organisation and planning goes into the day that it is often hard to look beyond the day itself. And if, like us, you are wanting an epic honeymoon on the other side of the world, it is almost impossible to plan both at the same time. Minimoons are the perfect solution. An easy, local escape long enough to let you unwind after the wedding crazy, but not so long that it uses up all your annual leave.
Até mais!

Groom Cakes
I love cake. So much so that this is the second cake post in a row, but you can never have too much cake, right? Quirky brides are apparently of this same opinion and are surprising their grooms with their very own wedding cake. Lets face it, guys don't get much of a say when it comes to the styling of a the cake, so this is a sweet way to incorporate your man's personality and have him feeling super special.

Let them eat..... cake?
It's hard to believe, but there are some people out there who don't like cake - I know, right?? As foreign a concept this is to me, it seems not so foreign in the big world of google, where there are dozens of alternatives to the traditional cake. So if you are wanting the obligatory cutting-the-cake-shot without the actual cake, here are a few delicious alternatives.

The key to my heart
Vintage skeleton keys are ridiculously romantic with the whole you-have-the-keys-to-my-heart thing, so they are perfect for a rustic wedding. Being small, skeleton keys can be used in lots of unexpected and unique ways. I especially love the 'Keys to a Happy Marriage' advice table!

Spectacular Stripes
Is there anything more stylishly simple than a black and white stripe? Other patterns tend to fall in and out of fashion pretty quickly, but the sassy stripe remains a long term favourite. Easy to incorporate into various elements of your wedding day, this bold stripe stands out from the crowd and instantly lifts a simple ceremony into a stunning soiree.

Alternative wedding bouquets
Like most things at weddings, carrying a bouquet of flowers down the aisle, only to offload them to our bridesmaid at the end, is so steeped in tradition that to not do it would be kind of strange. Even though nobody really knows why we do it to begin with, we all follow the same unquestioned custom. Which is why I love some of the alternatives out there that inject a bit of your personality into an otherwise odd ritual. Pinwheels, buttons and lollypops are just a few of the ways you can be daringly different while still keeping the traditionalists happy.

Oh so pretty Ombré
Ombré is the fancy-pants term for a graduating shade of colour from light to dark. Brides are getting inspired and are ombréising everything from invites to cake to flowers to create a dream like, romantically whimsical feel to their day. Fifty shades of grey was so 2012, it's now all about the shades of pink/green/blue/yellow/aqua/purple/orange...

Unique Wedding Favours
Thankfully we have moved well past the traditional bonbonniere of the tooth-breaking sugared almonds and chocolate hearts combo, with couples choosing favours that will actually be used by their guests. Mini jars of your grandmother's homemade jam, a custom tea blend or a medley of your favourite flower seeds are a only a few of the cute keepsakes that are both personal and memorable.

Cherry Red and Aqua Blue
There are a few colour combinations that just make me smile when I think of them. Bold red with sweet aqua is definitely one of those combinations. Happy, bright and a little bit cheeky, this delightful duo is the epitome of fun and merriment.

You're my Lobster
The nautical theme has always been popular amongst brides planning a seaside soirée. But I have noticed the traditional anchor is being dropped in favour of a certain shellfish. Either inspired by Phoebe Buffay's love theory on Friends, or just because couples really, really like lobster, these cute crustaceans are popping up everywhere.

Paperless Invitations
I am a real paperphile so this post is a little out of my inner old school printer's character. But how amazing are these? Invitations don't have to be restricted to (gorgeous) paper. Balloons, chocolate, tea towels and even a customised viewfinder (!!!) are only a few of the creatively off-beat ways to inform guests of your wedding details.
You will notice the current trend of animated e-invites is absent... Sorry but I just don't believe a web based invitation is special. Every day we are bombarded with a gzillion emails, but how often do you receive some actual letterbox love?

Stunning Succulents
There is something special about the simple elegance of a succulent and it is causing quite a commotion in the rose dominated floral arena. Many brides are now ditching the David Austin's in favour of extraordinary Echeverias to create spectacular bouquets of, what can only be described as, Mother Nature's masterpieces. Visually stunning and low maintenance, the unique pieces of your botanical bouquet can be replanted and will continue to grow, long after your wedding day.

Crafty DIY Backdrops
Backdrops for ceremonies is nothing new, but instead of the over-used white tulle with green plastic ivy leaves climbing over twinkling fairy lights, which I am sure is some sort of fire hazard, I am loving the DIY backdrop trend. Paper cranes, typography chalkboards and gigantic paper flowers are only a few of the artsy backdrop ideas keeping crafty brides busy. What better way to personalise your ceremony, cover up a dreary brick wall and let you show off your hidden talents? It's time to get your craft on.

Great Gatsby Glamour
With the much anticipated Baz Luhrmann's version of The Great Gatsby finally hitting Australian screens tomorrow (!!!) I thought it would be appropriate to dedicate this Weddinsday to the sparkling era that was the roaring twenties. Gorgeous geometric lines, intricately beaded dresses, feathers, furs and vintage pearls all contribute to the opulent glamour of this iconic period. So pick up your crystal martini glass, sit back in your velveteen divan and indulge in some Art Deco decadence.

Bloomin' lovely
It's not even officially winter here in Melbourne and I am already counting down the days until Spring. But let's pretend it's warm and sunny for today's post of floraltastic mismatched prints. Certainly not a new trend - my mum had her bridesmaids rocking the florals way back in '76. But it is now all about the chaotic mix and the beautiful match of patterns and colours.
When you can't decide on a colour scheme, why not choose all of them in a whimsically wonderful frenzy of florals?

Pink Loves Gold
Just in case you haven't figured it out by now... I love pink. It is such a sweet and happy colour that, if I had my way, my whole house would be furnished in this delicious hue. It is a very girly-girl colour and for a wedding you often need to balance it out with a 'manly' grey, black or navy to ensure your groom even turns up. But if you can convince your man, a sophisticated and elegant gold is the perfect partner to this very pretty pastel. Pink has just grown up.
