Great Gatsby Glamour

With the much anticipated Baz Luhrmann's version of The Great Gatsby finally hitting Australian  screens tomorrow (!!!) I thought it would be appropriate to dedicate this Weddinsday to the sparkling era that was the roaring twenties. Gorgeous geometric lines, intricately beaded dresses, feathers, furs and vintage pearls all contribute to the opulent glamour of this iconic period.  So pick up your crystal martini glass, sit back in your velveteen divan and indulge in some Art Deco decadence.

Bloomin' lovely

It's not even officially winter here in Melbourne and I am already counting down the days until Spring. But let's pretend it's warm and sunny for today's post of floraltastic mismatched prints. Certainly not a new trend - my mum had her bridesmaids rocking the florals way back in '76. But it is now all about the chaotic mix and the beautiful match of patterns and colours.
When you can't decide on a colour scheme, why not choose all of them in a whimsically wonderful frenzy of florals?

Pink Loves Gold

Just in case you haven't figured it out by now... I love pink. It is such a sweet and happy colour that, if I had my way, my whole house would be furnished in this delicious hue. It is a very girly-girl colour and for a wedding you often need to balance it out with a 'manly' grey, black or navy to ensure your groom even turns up. But if you can convince your man, a sophisticated and elegant gold is the perfect partner to this very pretty pastel. Pink has just grown up.

A Food Truck Wedding

I LOVE the idea of food trucks at a wedding. I am hoping Australian brides will follow the American trend and include them at their outdoor wedding receptions. Either in addition or to replace the traditional sit down meal, food trucks bring that touch of quirkiness and will keep your guests fed and entertained long after dessert is served. Midnight taco anyone??

Be sure to wear some flowers in your hair...

Is there anything more romantic and dreamy than flowers in your hair? Whimsical, ethereal and will make you feel like you just floated out of a Disney story with Bambi and Thumper as your new best friends. No longer just for the flower girls, many brides are opting for big floral crowns rather than traditional veils or headpieces. Indie Chic at it's floral finest.
